Nearly a year after work started, I've finally released Pixaria Gallery, a brand new PHP script for publishing images on the internet.
Pixaria Gallery is a full featured web based image publishing application designed from the ground up to be scalable, efficient and flexible and today's release marks the beginning of what I hope will be a long lived and successful product!
To mark the grand launch, Pixaria Gallery is on sale as of now at a special introductory price of $199.00 for the next two weeks - the final price of the script will be $249.00.
Any users of PopPhoto Studio will be entitled to introductory upgrade pricing of $149.00 and to qualify, you should send a copy of your original payment details including the price you paid and any transaction reference numbers to [email protected]
If you've got any questions about the script, please visit the forum...
PermalinkBarring any major catastrophes, I'm hoping to release version 1.0 of Pixaria Gallery tonight (UK time). Because this is effectively a new product, I will be limiting the numbers of people who can buy the script in the first week or two to ensure I don't get swamped with support requests.
If you're interested in being one of the first to use the script, check out the listed features to ensure you know what you're getting and watch this space...
PermalinkI'm probably going to release Pixaria Gallery this weekend. The exact features that will make it in at this point are not fixed and it may or may not have working PayPal IPN integration with instant downloads.
The rationale behind this decision is that I could delay and delay until everything's perfect but that might take years. At least if I get it out now, people can start putting content in and playing with the software.
Anyone using the script at this early stage should treat it as NEW software. It's been extensively tested but I don't want to give the impression that it's a flawless product, I'm still working on improvements and these obviously take time...
PermalinkYesterday I came across a very interesting site called Fluxiom which will be launching a digital asset management service for businesses later this year.
On the homepage is a QuickTime video demonstrating certain aspects of the interface and I was astonished to learn that it's ALL HTML based (no Flash).
I was immediately interested to see how easy it might be to bring some of this interface goodness to PhotoStream and spent yesterday playing with a new JavaScript visual effects and programming API called to see what I could come up with.
The first thing I tried to do was recreate the nifty slider to control the size of the thumbnails, this wasn't as easy as I thought it would be and definitely showed me how rusty I am at JavaScript but I managed to get it working and I'm now working on an integration into PhotoStream.

What I want to know now is what people think of the Fluxiom interface and how much of this kind of seamless integration would be useful in Pixaria Gallery. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts in the forum.
