Now that Pixaria Gallery is becoming a more mature product, I'm considering a plan to make a cut down version of the script available at a reduced price.
Since it's public launch in January 2006, Pixaria has become a popular script and a number of photographers are now using it successfully to sell images on their own websites.
Because of the amount of interest I've had in the script, I'm considering the possiblity of offering a cut price version that lacks the ability to sell images but is feature complete in every other way.
I'm interested in any feedback on this idea before I make a decision so if you have any ideas or thoughts on this, let me know.
PermalinkIf you would like to buy Pixaria Gallery to run on your own website but you don't have a PayPal account, you'll be pleased to hear that you can now buy the script online through the Kagi Store.
As with PayPal, all payments are secure and because Kagi is a well known and respected payment processor, you can rest assured your credit card details will be safe.
Orders placed with Kagi aren't dispatched immediately as with PayPal but you can expect to receive your copy of Pixaria within 24 hours of making payment.
PermalinkPixaria Gallery 1.0.5 is now available and will likely be the last release before version 1.1 which is due later on in March.
This update makes a number of minor improvements to the software but the main new feature in this release is the ability to offer instant downloads when images have been paid for. Instant downloads can be controlled from the store settings control panel.
A full list of all the changes in this version is available in the version history here:

PermalinkOver the coming weeks, I'll be publishing a series of interviews with some of the professional photographers who I've met while creating Pixaria and who are now using the software on their own websites.
The first in this series is an interview with Jason Friend, a landscape and travel photographer based in north-east England. In the interview, Jason tells me about his workflow and how using Pixaria has helped him spend less time in the office and more time out taking photos.
The series will all be posted online here:
I have several more profiles in the works but if you would like to submit your own Pixaria website for consideration, please let me know!
PermalinkThis is an important announcement for any user of Pixaria Gallery who has an account with AOL. At the present time, AOL is aggressively filtering all e-mails that come into its network from the internet.
This means that if you purchase Pixaria Gallery or wish to recive updates by e-mail, you will need to set up your AOL user account to recieve messages from this site. If you don't to do this, I will be completely unable to communicate with you by e-mail and you won't receive details of how to download your software.
Until such a time as AOL changes its policy on this and related efforts to charge people like me for sending e-mail to AOL accounts this situation is unlikely to change. If you are running a business from an AOL e-mail address, it's time to switch ISP!
PermalinkCurrent and prospective users of Pixaria who regularly consult the documentation for the software should be aware that I'm planning a complete overhaul of the documentation system for Pixaria.
At the moment, Pixaria uses an old custom built PHP script of mine that while capable, is not really up to the job and doesn't offer the facility to provide downloads of documentation for offline reading.
I'm investigating a number of alternative systems at present all of which are based on Wiki software. In the lead at present is AWF CMS which seems to offer everything I need in terms of functions and flexibility.
The new documentation will not be available for a few weeks yet so in the interim, please bear with me while I make do with the older system.
PermalinkBecause Pixaria Gallery is such a highly customisable script, I've put a second demo website online to demonstrate how an out of the box installation of the script can be configured in two totally different ways without doing any coding at all.
The new demo page explains the key differences between the two demo sites and highlights the points to note as you explore the galleries.
To find out more about how Pixaria Gallery can be configured, drop by the features page or go straight to the demos.
PermalinkI'm pleased to announce that Pixaria Gallery 1.0.4 is now out. This update once again features a large number of changes from the previous version and is a recommended update for all current users of the script.
Full details of what's new in this version can be found online in the version history and change log documentation here:

The most important features of this update are:
If you're a registered user, you should have received the update in an e-mail however I have had some bounced back to me so let me know if you've not received it yet.
PermalinkA new demo website is now online to provide prospective users with an opportunity to play with the front end features of Pixaria Gallery.
The demo has all features enabled including watermarking, lightboxes, the shopping cart, postcards, news, RSS newsfeeds and search tools.
To visit the demo, please point your web browser at:
A second demo site will be released shortly to demonstrate the same version of the script with a different theme.
