I'm pleased to announce the immediate availability of Pixaria Gallery version 1.1.4. This update is a significant release because it includes the first preview of the forthcoming product selling features.
Also in this update are a number of important changes to the internal architecture of the script that will make it easier to maintain and update in the future. These changes are ongoing but as they are purely connected with internal processes, will not affect the templates or front end of the software.
Full details of this update are available online at the version history and file change log pages.
PermalinkPopPhoto Studio has been updated to patch a serious security vulnerability that could leave a server open to being compromised by malicious attackers by using a specially designed URL to include and execute remote PHP code.
Full details of the vulnerability are described in the Secunia security advisory SA SA20087 published on the 15th of May 2006.
The vulnerability only affects servers where the PHP configuration setting register_globals is turned on. PopPhoto does not require this value to be on and all users are advised to turn it off where possible in addition to applying the new security patch.
An updated version of PopPhoto (version 3.6.1) can be downloaded from the PopPhoto version history page which also provides details of the bug and a link to the file change log where you can see which file has been updated.
This security vulnerability is specific to PopPhoto Studio and does not affect Pixaria Gallery.
PermalinkI've finally got around to setting up a new content management system for Pixaria. The new system is designed to allow for some important features such as the ability to be indexed by search engines, the facility for an integrated search engine and improved linking between related content pages.
In the future, there will hopefully be support for PDF downloads which is something I know a lot of people would like to see!
In the meantime, you can access the new documentation here or from the navigation panel on the left of all pages.
PermalinkEffective immediately, I have extended the technical support for Pixaria from 6 months to the entire lifetime of the product. Since the software was released in January 2006, the number of users requiring technical support has not increased at the same rate as adoption of the software which bascially means most people don't have any problems with the script!
This is good news and as a result I feel quite comfortable offering extended support to all current and new users! The entitlement to software updates remains unchanged and is six months from the date of purchase.
PermalinkAnother month another update to Pixaria, this time primarily a bug fix release to get everything set while I begin work on adding support for selling physical products like prints and t-shirts.
New features to get your teeth into with this update are support for drag and drop lightbox rearranging in the Evolve theme (note changes to the templates to support this) and major improvements to the sales manager including the ability to view the contents of user's carts.
For full details of the bugs which have been squashed in this update, check out the version history. The update will be sent to registered users by e-mail later today.
