Now that Christmas is is out of the way, I've had a chance to do some work on the Divestock site to get it a little closer to launching. As part of the preparation work, I've added some important new tools to the site...
New account tools
The account homepage area of Divestock now has a new expanded layout designed to make it easier to use. There are new quick links to view a preview of how your public account profile will look once published and the extended profile form has been updated to allow you to specify what information is visible to users browsing your public profile.
I've also added support for specifying your region if you are in France and Spain. Other countries to follow soon!
New blog and RSS feed
To make it easier to keep up with changes happening on Divestock, I've added a blog and RSS feed which will allow you to subscribe to blog entries as and when they are published.
Public profile pages
I'm also nearly done with the formatting and layout of the public profile pages which will allow photographers and picture libraries to promote themselves on the Divestock website.
Once I'm through with preliminary beta testing, I'll be activating these pages and making them available to site visitors so be sure to check that your profile is up to date!
PermalinkI'm very happy to announce that Pixaria Gallery version 2.1 is now finished and ready to go. This release comes hot on the heels of version 2.0 but because it packs in some much requested new features and interface enhancements, I decided to make it a more major release than the previously planned 2.0.3.
New in this update comes the ability for photographers to edit details of their images, major improvements to the look and feel of the large image view page - in response to many user requests and a number of usability improvements to the search engine.
Of particular note in this update is that I've had to change the CSS and template files for the large image (comping) view so if you've made your own customisations and would like to quickly transition to version 2.1, please check the template comparison tool to see exact details of what's changed. The tool has been updated to allow comparison of CSS as well as templates.

PermalinkA quick warning to UK BT internet customers! If you're having problems accessing this and other websites or internet services hosted in the US, you might want to let BT know about it.
I've had a couple of comments in the last few weeks about poor availability of this site and e-mail on domains linked to it that have been traced back to problems with BT's network infrastructure in the UK. The problem seems to be most frequently linked to MediaTemple (where this site is hosted) but there are some reports of other US based ISPs and hosting systems being affected too. MediaTemple are apparently aware of the situation but are still trying to get BT to acknowledge there is a problem at their end.
Numerous blogs and discussions are popping up with reports of problems and I've had several e-mails stating that BT are flat out denying there is a problem and that they are laying the blame for these network interruptions at the foot of MediaTemple and other US hosts and ISPs.
If you're having connection issues to this and other US hosted websites, make sure you let BT know! You can check yourself if there is problem at BT's end by using doing a traceroute check to see where network traffic between your computer and a remote host is getting lost or stuck.
