Updated documentation pages
Posted on Saturday, May 31, 2008I've finally got around to updating some of the pages in the documentation to bring them in to line with Pixaria 2.0 and above. The refreshed documentation topics cover the widely used techniques of creating new custom pages and modifying the default logo.

Posted on Monday, May 19, 2008Work is now wrapping up on Pixaria Gallery version 2.3 which will bring a couple of much requested features when it lands later this month. The main highlight of this update will be the ability for administrators to create instant image download products based on high-resolution or comping images.
This will make it possible to sell images at multiple sizes for fixed products, a feature that will be expanded to include images purchased through the price calculation system later this summer. To create a new image download product, administrators will use the product manager selecting the new product type option for an instant download and choosing the size of image to offer - currently limited to either original high-resolution or comping image.
After 2.3 is released, this feature will be expanded to enable administrators to sell images at any size they wish provided an image at the specified resolution is available on the server.
The second major improvement in version 2.3 will be the inclusion of a new Java based FTP upload applet that will include the ability to resize images as well as uploading them. This should make uploading and import large images as simple as drag and drop.
The new upload applet has been developed for Pixaria in collaboration with JFileUpload and as it is a commercial product in its own right, administrators wishing to use it, will need to purchase a license from the developers. I'll post details of the license fees nearer the launch date but I believe it will currently be in the region of $50 (US).
Version 2.3 will also feature some requested improvements to the navigation in the admin area, a new database export tool and various minor bugfixes and improvements.
Permalink del.icio.us Digg itImportant patch for the store PHP script
Posted on Tuesday, May 13, 2008Thanks to some sharp eyed observations by Pixaria user Geert van Erven, I have a patch file for the index.store.php which fixes an authentication issue that could allow users to download high resolution versions of images without being logged in.
The updated file can only be applied to Pixaria versions 2.2.3 or above and can be downloaded here.
I will post an updated index.store.php file for older versions of the script later today. Thanks again to Geert for reporting the bug..!
Permalink del.icio.us Digg itNotice for 2.2.6 users
Posted on Tuesday, May 6, 2008There is a known issue with version 2.2.6 that causes a warning to be shown on the dashboard page about an incorrect number of tables in the database. This is not a critical issue and can safely be ignored.
The issue is fixed in the forthcoming version 2.2.7 which changes the way in which tables are counted to accommodate the fact that some server hosting systems only allow one database per user and that the Pixaria database may have to be shared with other software packages' own database tables.

Posted on Monday, May 5, 2008Pixaria Gallery version 2.2.6 is now out fixing a couple of minor issues with the 2.2.5 release. Details can be found on the release notes page and file change log. To get this update, please e-mail me on upgrade@pixaria.com
If you're a regular forum user you may have noticed that I've not be in there for a week or so which is because I've been away on personal business. That said, I'm hoping to get back in the forums today or tomorrow so if you've got unanswered questions, I should be able to address them fairly soon!
Permalink del.icio.us Digg itMay Discounts and Aperture Offer
Posted on Thursday, May 1, 2008It's now six months since Pixaria 2.0 came out and so by way of thanks to current users for your continued support, I'm offering 50% off the standard retail price for anyone wishing to purchase additional licenses during May.
The offer's open to any existing user of Pixaria Gallery currently on version 2.0 even if your update period has expired so if you've been thinking about starting another site then now's your chance.
On top of the discounts, everyone who buys any full license during May, will be entered into a draw to win a copy of Apple's industry leading digital photography application Aperture 2.0. Each purchase of a single license gives you one entry so the more you buy, the better your chances are.

Aperture 2 gives photographers incredible tools to manage massive libraries, speed through photo edits, make essential image adjustments, and deliver photos online and in print using one simple, integrated workflow. Whether you shoot RAW or JPEG, Aperture lets you get the most out of your photography.
The draw runs through the whole of May and the winner will be announced here in the middle of June.
