I recently asked for feedback on the new helpdesk and forums powered by Zendesk and the overwhelming response was that people preferred the old forums at PixariaCentral.com. I had hoped that Zendesk would provide a better experience but ultimately, this turned out not to the be the case. Still, nothing ventured, nothing gained..!
In response to the feedback, I've updated the old forums and brought them back into the site navigation so everyone can use them once more. I'm still considering options for providing technical support via Zendesk but in the meantime, please feel free to make use of the new, old forum which can be found here: http://www.pixariacentral.com/
PermalinkEver had a flick through your old family photos and chuckled at the vintage hairstyles, clothes and colour tones? Irina Werning has created some incredible photos exploring the idea of people as they appear in old photos in a new collection:
I love old photos. I admit being a nosey photographer. As soon as I step into someone else's house, I start sniffing for them. Most of us are fascinated by their retro look but to me, it's imagining how people would feel and look like if they were to reenact them today... A few months ago, I decided to actually do this. So, with my camera, I started inviting people to go back to their future.

PermalinkIt's been a few months now since I launched the new website and the associated helpdesk and forums which are powered by Zendesk. The main reason for a setting up a new helpdesk system was to make it simpler for me to handle technical support but I also hoped that the forums would be useful too.
As of now, the helpdesk seems to have been a big success but the forums haven't been used quite so much and I'm interested to hear feedback about how the old forums compare to the new one and whether people think it's a change for the better or worse. Please leave a comment or if you'd rather contact me direct, e-mail me at info@pixaria.com.
PermalinkSeven by Five Photography Magazine recently reviewed MarketCircle's excellent, time tracking and invoicing app Billings for Mac OS X giving it five stars for its intuitive user interface and workflow:
I recently read that only 30% of a professional photographer's time is actually spent taking photos the other 70% is spent marketing and managing their business. If you find you are wasting time trying creating invoices, tracking payments or even simply keeping track of what you charge for each item then Billings is an essential tool for every Mac owning photographer.

PermalinkWhile we're on the subject of reviews, Ars Technica have a full review of the best selling Mac OS X digital image editor Pixelmator.
Dave Girard, Ars Technica's resident imaging and photography expert (who you may remember from his exhaustive reviews of Aperture and Lightroom) covers all the important features in the latest release with particular focus on similarities and differences between Pixelmator and Photoshop.
"...if you're looking for a fast, lightweight, image editor that gets the job done and is hard not to love, then you've found your application..."
If you're not overly thrilled with the idea of forking out a vast amount of money on Photoshop and your editing needs aren't of the hardcore variety, Pixelmator is well worth investigating and is currently available from the Mac App Store for a special price of only $30.
