Digital Railroad Closes
Posted on Tuesday, November 25, 2008I'm a little bit late off the mark with this one but for anyone who didn't know, the hosted stock photography solution Digital Railroad announced its immediate closure this month:
Digital Railroad, a stock photography site that let professional photographers manage their own inventory and sales, had said it was shedding costs in mid-October, but posted a note on 28-October-2008 that the plug would be pulled within 24 hours.
Without wanting to use this as an excuse to plug self hosted alternatives like Pixaria, there is a lesson here which is that whenever you entrust your data to a third party, you MUST remember to back everything up regularly!
