Thumbnail Preview Coming Soon

One of the most frequently requested feature additions for Pixaria is an image preview when navigating through gallery, lightbox and search result thumbnails. Many stock photo websites now include this feature and I've finally been able to add it to Pixaria as part of the 2.8.2 update which will be available later this month.

When the thumbnail preview is enabled in the appearance control panel, a larger preview image will shown to the user when their mouse cursor moves over any of the thumbnail images in the gallery, lightbox or search results thumbnail views. At the same time as implementing this, I've also taken the opportunity to add an icon view for thumbnail actions such as downloading a comp or adding an image to the lightbox. This new view option can be enabled in the appearance control panel.

The preview image used for this view will be the 'small comp' image which is a 320 x 320 pixel fitted image that was introduced to Pixaria in version 2.6. Images imported into Pixaria before this version will not have a 'small comp' image available and therefore no preview will be shown for these images. Fortunately however, there will be a way to generate this and other thumbnail images in the admin area.

The new thumbnail regeneration utility will make it possible to re-create the thumbnail images for any images in your library or add them if they do not exist. To create missing thumbnails, all that's needed is to simply select the gallery of images you wish to work with and then tick the boxes to indicate which images you wish to (re)create.
