Yet another report on version 1.2

Yet another report on version 1.2

After a monumental weekend of work on Pixaria and after a lot of comments on the beta, I've made a lot of improvements to the process for buying images. The main comment I've had about the beta is that it wasn't possible for users who aren't logged in to see pricing. To fix this, I decided to go back to the drawing board with the whole shopping process.

In the next update, the three PHP scripts index.cart.php, index.transaction.php and index.download.php have been replaced with a new single script called index.store.php. This new script handles the entire shopping cart system for Pixaria and is also fully object oriented which will make adding new features much easier.

The new store system makes it much easier for people to buy images and products by showing all purchase options on a single page which can be configured in the preferences to open in either a pop-up window or the current browser window. In previous versions of Pixaria, a user had to add images to the cart before they could calculate a price but this can now be done by any user whether they are logged in or not. In addition, the new store pages are intelligent enough to provide all the correct options for users depending on how the store is configured.

The new store system uses new templates which replace those of the old index.cart and index.transaction scripts. The new store templates are stored in a single directory (index.store) in the themes directory. The new template files use the standard common naming and layout conventions described in the documentation:

http://www.pixaria.com/wiki/LayoutSpecification

This means you will be able to configure the look and feel of the store quickly and easily using CSS. If you don't know how to use CSS, it's worth learning as it will make your life much simpler and it's not difficult.
