Spectrum Textures was an idea I'd had for some years but it was about three years ago that I realised all the elements were there to do it all myself without relying on the larger image libraries. The cameras, scanners, computers and software were all at a stage where I could really put my idea into practice. I combined the technology with my experience from the graphics industry and got to work in my spare time.
With the exception of a few, the images are all mine, some are shot indoors and some scanned in. The rest are mostly from the U.K. but some are from trips abroad and include interesting places like Hong Kong, Monaco and America. It's a good excuse to travel and I intend to do more.
I work in the creative industry and I think this helps me produce what people are looking for when they need textures and backgrounds.
The software has a good look and feel to it, a bit like the Apple website. It makes a difference when you spend a long time in front of a screen and I know creatives appreciate this kind of thing. Whilst preparing the site I found the menus to be logical and clear and did a good job at keeping the techie stuff to a minimum.
There are still many images I intend to shoot and a realistic goal is to double the size of the library
