How much does Pixaria Gallery cost to buy?
A single site licence for Pixaria Gallery is $195 which includes free software updates for the first six months, unlimited technical support and free installation if you need it.
Users who purchased Pixaria 1.5 after June 1st 2007, are entitled to a free upgrade to Pixaria 2.0.
Can I get a discount on more than one license?
Yes, there are savings to be made if you're interested in running more than one instance of Pixaria Gallery. For two to four licenses, you can get 10% off the total cost, 20% off five to nine licenses and a whopping 30% off ten to nineteen licenses.
If you're interested in running Pixaria on twenty or more domains, you can make even more significant savings. Please contact Jamie for more information.
Are there multiple license discounts
There are special deals available if you plan to buy three or more licenses of Pixaria Gallery? If you need more than one copy of the software to run on different websites or for different uses on the same website, you can save up to 10% off three or more licenses, 20% off the total purchase price for five or more licenses and a whopping 30% on ten licenses or above.
For more details and to find out about packages for web designers, please contact info@pixaria.com giving details of your exact requirements.
Can I upgrade from Pixaria 1.x?
Yes, you can. Pixaria 2.0 replaces all the PHP files and templates from version 1 but you can still use your existing image library and settings. As with previous updates, the upgrade comes with a database updater script to convert your 1.x database into a version 2 database.
Can I create nested galleries?
Yes, you can put galleries inside other galleries allowing for great organisational control over images in your library. For the sake of ease of navigation for your users however, it's recommended that you avoid creating more than three levels of galleries.
Can different images/galleries have different products available?
Not at the present time. Products are a fairly new addition so there are still quite a few things to be added. This is a planned feature though.
Can different images/galleries have different price structures?
Automated price calculations are defined globally and implementing them on an image by image basis would be very complex and is unlikely to happen in the foreseeable future.
Images can themselves have different prices however and there are also options to sell images by manually providing quotations which allows for greater flexibility at the expense of automation.
Can somone purchase items without registering and having an account?
No, this is because in order to store their cart, they need to have an account. Relying on cookies for remembering people is not secure enough on its own.
Can coupons or discounts be used?
Not at the present time though this feature is planned for a future update.
Is the customer notified by e-mail when the status of an order has changed?
Yes, they are notified whenever any kind of change is made to the status of their order.
Can I remove Smarty from Pixaria?
The simple answer to this is that you can't. The longer answer is that it's not possible to remove Smarty from Pixaria because of the way that the script is written, by completely separating application logic from layout and design.
The resoning behind using Smarty as a foundation for building Pixaria was to enable users to make changes to the design more easily by keeping PHP separate from HTML and CSS. This also has the added benefit of making development of the script much simpler for me as the author which means faster, better upgrades!
How long am I entitled to upgrades for?
Any user purchasing Pixaria Gallery will be entitled to upgrades to the script free of charge for the first six months.
After this time, users are required to pay a $30 upgrade fee to extend the upgrade period by another six months. This doesn't affect the technical support entitlement which lasts the lifetime of the product.
Can multiple photographers have separate admin accounts?
At the present time, Pixaria Gallery only allows website administrators to use the image management functions. If you have multiple photographers who you would like to grant access to edit, upload, import and manage images, then you will need to give them all administrator accounts which will result in their having access to all the settings for your website.
Future editions of Pixaria are likely to include tiered permissions which will allow finer grained control over which users can perform certain actions and details of these updates will be posted on the news page as and when they are added to the software.
Can I keep existing theme customisations from version 1.5?
No. Pixaria 2.0 has so many changes that it is not possible to use a custom theme or customised templates from version 1.x. When you upgrade, your default theme will be set to 'Illuminux' the new default theme that ships with Pixaria 2.0.
Once you've upgraded, you can then make a copy of the 'Illuminux' theme if you want to apply previous customisations.
Why isn't is possible to use themes from version 1.5 in Pixaria 2.0?
A lot of new features have been added to version 2.0 and these require modifications to existing templates and the creation of new ones. In addition to this, the HTML and CSS of version 1.x was not very clean or easy to work with so version 2.0 includes simpler CSS and HTML templates that follow standard rules for all their layout and design.
I felt that it would be better to get all the changes over in one go than spread them over time.
If I change my mind, can I downgrade from version 2.0?
No you can't. Once you've upgraded your database to the version 2.0 database, you cannot then downgrade it.
Will I need to change any server settings to upgrade to 2.0?
If you use Mod_Rewrite to support search engine friendly URLs in Pixaria, you will need to make changes to your Apache configuration to continue using them in version 2.0.
Version 2.0 no longer requires modifications to Apache's httpd.conf file and instead only requires you to use a simple .htaccess file to configure mod_rewrite. The set-up is much simpler than in version 1.x which means that everyone should be able to use search engine friendly URLs with no problems.
Are there major structural changes in 2.0?
Apart from the mod_rewrite changes mentioned above, the file structure in Pixaria 2.0 has been changed and a lot of PHP scripts and templates have been renamed including the site configuration file.
When you upgrade, you will need to copy your settings from the old config file 'psg.config.inc.php' to the new one 'pixaria.Config.php'.
