EPS and PDF File Upload and Import

EPS & PDF Gallery Support

From version 3.0, Pixaria Gallery has powerful digital asset management tools that include out of the box support for EPS (encapsulated PostScript) and Adobe PDF files. Using Pixaria's built in import and upload tools, you can easily add EPS and PDF documents to your library from where you can add them to galleries and make them searchable by visitors to your site.

Support for upload and import of both EPS PDF files is enabled when ImageMagick and Ghostscript software libraries are detected on the server where Pixaria Gallery is installed. In general Pixaria Gallery will import and process most EPS and PDF files in exactly the same way as other images, and will generate thumbnails from the first page of the document for use in the software front end.

Troubleshooting PDF Importing

Pixaria Gallery uses ImageMagick to create JPEG thumbnails of PDF images and documents and this process requires the Ghostscript software library which is used by ImageMagick to convert PDF and PostScript data into a usable image. Many web servers only provide Ghostscript up to version 8.15 which is unable to process files in the new PDF 1.5 format. If you're having difficulties importing a PDF file, check with your web server's system administrator to see if it's possible to upgrade to a newer version of Ghostscript with support for PDF version 1.5.
