Troubleshooting » E-mail Delivery

If you're having problems receiving e-mails and postcards sent from Pixaria, there are several possible causes:

  1. Your e-mail server rejects the e-mails coming from Pixaria as spam.
  2. Pixaria has not been configured with a 'send from' e-mail address in the General Settings control panel.
  3. PHP is not correctly configured to send e-mails.

For spam problems, it can be useful to test your settings by trying different e-mail addresses in the Pixaria postcard feature. This will enable you to see if it is just one e-mail address that is rejecting the e-mail. If you don't receive e-mails at any of the addresses you test, it may indicate a configuration problem with Pixaria or the server where it is installed.

The next step is to check that the 'send from' address in the General Settings control panel is set to an e-mail address with a domain name whose MX records resolve to the server where Pixaria is installed. If this address is not configured correctly, it may result in messages being automatically treated as spam by the recipient's e-mail system. For example, if your server name is www.mysite.com, the send from address should be configured to be something like post@mysite.com - note that this does not need to be a working e-mail address.

Finally, if all else fails, it may be worth contacting the server administrator or hosting company to see if there are restrictions on sending e-mail from the server. Some hosting companies like Yahoo! require site owners to submit a request in order to send e-mails and they may place restrictions on how e-mails are addressed and delivered.
